Shortening the shaft
« on: April 05, 2009, 11:03:31 PM »
Has anyone ever cut the composite shaft to shorten the length?  I would like to take my 36\" down to 24\"  Will it screw up the motor?  I am not concerned with the warranty.  I think that I could cut the shaft and splice back together with a PVC pipe coupler.  What do you guys think? Thanks

i have successfully cut a comp. shaft. i used a cut off wheel to do it, a few years ago i tried to cut one with a saw and messed it up so bad i had to replace it. if i remember correctly, i also used a small drill bit when drilling for the heads set screw, gradually working my way up to the desired size
