290 Diesel
« on: April 05, 2009, 11:04:06 PM »
I\'m thinking of upgrading boats and one of the boats I keep thinking about is the 290 with a diesel inboard.  The two I\'m looking at have Yanmar diesels, 315 hp and 320 hp.  Any opinions out there?  Realistically, what are my expected cruise and top speeds?  thanks-

I have a 28\' Whitewater with a 315hp Yanmar I cruise at 25kts, burn 3.5 mpg.. I don\'t think Sea Vee offers the 29 anymore with diesel..

It\'s an \'03 with a Yanmar.  What kind of top sustained speeds do you get?  Thanks

I have a 1996 29 with a 05 315 yanmar.. Cruise 28 knots, I am turning a little more rpms than I should so there is a little wiggle room there for a little more speed.A friend has a 03 29 with a 300 cat in it and his cruise is 24 kts.Another has an 03 29 with a 330 cummins and cruise is about the same as mine \"28kts\"Hope this helps..

My buddy has an \'03 with a 315 yanmar and it cruises in the 24 knot range and tops off at the upper end of 29... We call it the $50 boat... That\'s all you need a day in gas! Best boat ever!
