Lake Monroe crappie, bream, shad
« on: April 06, 2009, 03:17:59 AM »
Attended the crappie masters media event 2day and fished with Jim & Barbara Reedy on Lake Monroe. We managed 15-20 specks, a dozen were keeper sized. Biggest was 1.92. good enough for second place. Charlie McCullough won the event with a 2.11.was actually very nice this morning. windy, but comfy on the water.we also caught a few big bream 1/2 pounders along with 4-5 bluegillssaw a big school of shad moving thru the lake, they\'re there boys, break out your fly rods & have some fun.

Just curious, what\'s the difference in a bream and a blue gill?

Bream is more brown and bluegill is a little darker with a blue spot on it\'s gill, bluegill seem to get bigger, and shellcracker are a few diffrent colors with a red eye, there usually red and yellow and they get bigger than both, then there is redear sunfish,a bream with a gold belly and there usually around the same size as bream.

Good for Charlie, must not have been a real good day out there, specks get bigger than that there. But you know \"a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work.\"
